For the 10th anniversary of the Dr Klown organization here in Malta, I photographed 26 Clown Doctors all living, working and clowning on the Maltese Islands.
Clowning is a transforming process pulling children, adolescents, adults, and elderly – so people of all generations, colors, and backgrounds- out of their current situation to uplift and leave all worries for at least a little time behind. It opens space to new perspectives and ideas to carry on more released and more inspired.
Each Clown is psychologically and artistically trained to entertain children in the hospital. To meet and bring patients and everybody else to a place of ease and joyfulness requires a lot of training, discipline, and the deep desire to get there. Clown Doctors is a global movement with known organizations in 70 countries worldwide, with a clear focus on spreading joy and happiness in the world.
