Education in Cuba

With one fifth of the world’s school-age children not having the possibility of going to school, better accessibility to education is key in order to sustain the future of the world around us. This situation has been highlighted time and time again by the United Nations, who has set a goal that by 2030 every child should have free access to education.

My passion to education has always been deeply engrained, aided by the fact that I started my photographic career taking portraits of children and students in schools across Europe. A few years ago I was lucky enough to gain access to photograph the daily life of school children in Cuba. The education system in the country is a success, based on the concept of free education to all children, with the country now also achieving one of the highest global literacy rates.

I encourage everyone to do their part, however they can, in order to keep improving the global education problem. The more we unite together, the better the next generations will be.
